History > Statistical Data > Casualties
The following names were members of the 445th Bombardment Group (Heavy) who perished either in making the overseas movement to England, training exercises, or combat operations.  It is for us, the living, to remember the sacrifices these men made, along with the other bomb groups and fighter groups that made up the Eighth Air Force. Half of all of the U.S. Army Air Force's casualties in World War II were suffered by Eighth Air Force (more than 47,000 casualties, with more than 26,000 dead).
