Recognizing the need for a federal agency to be responsible for honoring American armed forces where they served, and for controlling the construction of military monuments and markers on foreign soil by others, the American Battle Monuments Commission was established in 1923 by congressional legislation. The table below contains links to pages with photographs of 445th Group personnel who were killed in action overseas and buried there. Currently, the only photos available are from the Margarten Cemetery in the Netherlands.
