History > Statistical Data > Missing Air Crew Reports
The long awaited invasion of the European continent came on June 6th. The effectiveness of the air superiority campaign was quite evident as there were very few reported attacks by German fighters against the invasion forces. Four crews and planes were lost during this month which saw heavy action and, for the first time, the use of strategic bombers in a ground support role during the breakout at St. Lô.
