April saw the continued destruction of German airdromes in occupied France and Holland as preparations were underway for the allied invasion of Europe. A new threat is starting to make it's impact - the German V-1 pilotless bomb called the "Buzz Bomb" from the sound its ram jet motor made. These pilotless bombs required a ramp to serve as a launching pad and were heavily defended with anti-aircraft guns.
